Barcelona visited Real Betis yesterday thrashing them 4-1, thanks to a sensational Lionel Messi hat-trick.

After the break, Luis Suarez had to clear his name after missing two chances earlier; he drove forward from about 25 yards before slotting the ball past Lopez.

Substitute Loren pulled one back for the hosts in the 82nd minute with a sidefoot strike that went beyond the reach of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Three minutes later, Lionel Messi hat-trick was completed with a classic effort that took the home support to their feet to applaud him.

Barcelona have now claimed 66 points from 28 games, 10 points ahead of Atletico Madrid and 12 points ahead of Real Madrid.
